Hi guys,

I'm building a new PC for one of my friends who wants to get into gaming and I'm looking for some insight and advice on how this build would perform.

He wants to at least be able to run games like Cities skylines mid graphics at 60 FPS and games of that size in the future.

If Anything is not compatible, or the PSU is not powerful enough, or any advice you would like to tell me feel free!

And please please tell us if we can downgrade some of the parts to lower the cost, without majorly reduced performance

Here is the Build

CPU - Intel i5 7400 3GHz Quad Core ~ 282$NZD ( 1USD = 1.37NZD )

Motherboard - Asrock B250M mATX ~ 321$NZD

RAM - Corsair DDR4 8GB ~ 160$NZD

GPU - GTX GeForce 1050 2Gb ~ 300$NZD

SSD - Crucial MX500 500GB ~ 150$NZD [This is a good area to lower the price]

HDD -Seagate 1TB HDD ~ 78$NZD

Case - DeeplCool Tesseract Mid Tower ~ 88$

Screen - ASUS 23.6" Monitor ~ 196$NZD

PSU - Deep Cool 480W PSU ~ 79$

Thank you for all your help, We are aiming for this PC 1300$NZD or 948$USD

I would actually invest on a 600W PSU for future upgrades...

|| CPU: I7 6950X @4.6 (1.35V) || Cooler: CUSTOM EK LOOP || Motherboard: ASUS RAMPAGE V EDITION 10

|| GPU: 2x Vega 64 Strix OC @1762 / 1100 MHz || Memory: 16GB G.Skill Royal RGB 3200 Mhz ||

HDD: Segate Barracuda 3TB || SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 512 GB || PSU: Corsair HX 1200 W || Case: Fractal Design Define R6 Gunmetal || Fans: Corsair HD120 (x4) / BeQuiet Silent Wings 3 (x4) || Monitor: ACER XF27HU ||

Second Monitor: BENQ RL2455HM || Mouse: Logitech G502 Pretus Core || Keyboard: Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum || Headphones: Sennheiser IE80 ||

                                                                                                          Buildlog expirience swapping to x99:

So far looks good. However I would recommend a i7 or i5 but 8th gen which has more cores. If budget is tight, get a smaller like 128GB or 250 GB ish for the SSD and get a 600W PSU for further upgrade.

Hey!

Why not going for 8th gen cpus? Something like i5 8400 is the same price and is much much better due to two more cores. Pair it with the cheapest mb you can find(e.g. Asrock z370 pro4) or wait a little for non-z boards. Also do not buy that psu. Look at this list and choose somethinf from tier 1,2,3.
