Z370 System Without OverClocking

sundar1301

Hi LinusTechTips,

Kindly provide your suggestion on  the below.

I would like to Buy (or) Assemble a Desktop PC with Z370 Chipset WITHOUT Overclocking.

Basically I need this PC for,

1) Home Video Editing (FHD/4K),

2) Home Web Server + NAS (2-3 Nos),

3) Simple Gaming (Kids),

4) For Work (Like Remote Desktop)

I am not interested in Overclocking. I need a solid reliable system (Not too expensive) with 24/7 turned on.

* I am not a gaming guy.

Questions:

1) Is it better to buy branded like HP/Dell/Lenovo (or) assemble by myself is better choice ?

If branded, what is the reliable brand. I have good experience with HP Laptop (10 years old), but now not sure about Desktop.

2) Z370 motherboard like Maximus Hero has overclocking support, is there a way to DISABLE Overclocking ?

Below is the current configuration in my mind, pls. provide your valuable suggestion.

You should probably wait for the  H370, H310, and B360 boards to come out if you don’t wanna overclock.

no need to disable overclocking just don't do it.

PSU is way overkill

motherboard is way overkill

no need for liquid cooling if you're not overclocking

get the i7 8700 since you're not OCing or gaming

note - ryzen would probably be better in this situation

Hi Sam,

Thanks for the reply.

Will there be Hxxx series coming out. Why they did not release it together with Zxxx series. Any idea.

Best Regards,

Shanmuga.

I will have 2-3 HDD's + NAS + External HDD. Do you think 1200 Watts is a overkill.

No idea why they didn’t release them simultaneously. Here’s some info from tomshardware:

Apparently, they’re coming “soon”
