Basic ReactJS and Python Script

I have a GUI made with ReactJS and I would like to make it so when I click a button it will send a command to my python script (which will be running in the background). What can I use to communicate between ReactJS and my python application? 

 

The commands that will be sent will be like UP, DOWN, STOP.
