University Rig Build Help.

So as the title states This rig is for when I go to university and would be required to be fairly decent as it would be using software packages such as Unreal engine, Unity and other packages,

I Ain't the most experianced person to build i workstation Rig so i was looking to see if people here could help.

As stated it need to be able to run such programs as described above decently but the biggest issue is the fact that the Rig would need to cost between £300 and £400 pound (not including OS as i have one sorted out)

Thank you for any responses, I have a list i made earlier but not sure if it is even good what so ever!! :D

If you're comfortable buying used parts, check the used market. You can get some good deals on Kepler, Maxwell, and Haiti cards over here in Ontario at least. If you're not mining, the value is pretty good.

Will this be alright without a gpu? I Know the 2200G series are APU so they can run graphics but would the software packages not require gpu for rendering and displaying?

@tarfeef101 ummm the title states that it is for Uni not mining XD. Umm i not heistant on the second hand market but due to the use of it being for Uni and will be holding a copy of what ever assignments i'm doing or Coursework i eould prefer new as it would have a less chance of randomly failing plus warrenty.

Well just because you didn't say you're mining doesn't mean you wouldn't (many choose to omit that due to the stigma, lots of aggressive haters out there. just look at PC Gamer's comments section on facebook).

Also you can just take that statement to mean they consume more power than modern counterparts. That's all.

Anyways, a GPU doesn't permanently store data or anything... So no real risk of data loss. As long as it isn't a card that was sitting in a hot mining farm for 4 years, to be honest I've used many used GPUs, and never had any issues. GPUs and CPUs rarely die under normal use. So I wouldn't let that hold you back. The question of warranty holds more value, and that's a personal decision. I can say having owned dozens of GPUs I've never had to RMA one, but that doesn't mean you will be the same, or that you don't value security more than performance. So your call, but I want to make you aware that it is a fairly low risk (especially if you actually test before buying, or use ebay since they guarantee purchases)

@tarfeef101 i understand where you getting at and that GPU's dont store data. I have looked about but need to get round to setting up a paypal or credit card for that gurantee that i dont get fuked over in purchases on ebay or other places. Lost out on a little cash when i bought 2 used montiors (never arrived) got a partial refund but had to pay for shipping back... tbh i assume it was a neighbor not wanting to admit they got them. As i went house go house asking about them no had them yet when it cam to returning them to he buy i see the van pull up to a house pick up 2 packages then leave. So somebody was bullshitting me....

@herman mcpootis & @Starelementpoke So what CPU would you suggest for this rig's main priority being to work in Program packages such as Unity and Unreal Engine, I want the Rig to run well but due to money I can't exactly have it being overkill, just something that can do the work and a little more

2400G if you can afford it, otherwise a 2200G.

Yeah, i never authorize shippers to leave stuff with neighbours. I don't trust that. Yeah, you should set paypal up. Just generally helpful, and especially if you use ebay.

Sooo Pcpartpicker is odd at times when it comes to finding the best prices but I have this here:

Amazon Basket of All parts except the 2TB HDD

Spoiler

image.png.6dc675ed11278d73d00e6f56bc3f1e03.png

Overall comes just under £300 if I wanted to get it all from Amazon apart from the 2TB HDD which I could purchase at a later date as the SSD would be sufficient enough for the OS and Programs as this was designed for Gaming. I Could bring the cost slightly over £300 if I bought the 2x4GB Kingston Ram which was £74 roughly.

get a dual channel 2800-3000mhz kit, the iGPU will perform much better with it. get a better PSU, the VS is low quality.
