I'm a size queen, somewhat.  Unless there's a major difference in price and that's a big consideration, 27" will offer a significant difference.  For 1440p and 4K, 27" will truly reveal maximize the value of having those resolutions.  But even for a 1080p monitor, the distortion is not bad on a 27" monitor and the image quality is not suddenly crisp on a 24".  With larger size, there's not just more immersion, but also versatility.  A 27" monitor could be used from a distance as a small-ish television in some circumstances, if you want to just lay on the couch and game from there instead of at a chair next to the desk, whereas with 24" there's a lot less room to do that.

27" is fine for me even at just 1080p.
