IR blaster for pc

So someone I know just got a new sky box and gave me their old one. I wanted to set up my PC so that my Amazon Echo could turn it on and found that the easiest route I could find was to get an IR blaster to be controlled by Alexa and a receiver to control the PC. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to salvage the receiver and blaster from the remote and box and a way to set this up to accomplish this as I don't want it that badly so as to spend money on extra devices
