eGPU Mid 2012 MBP

Ok so I know that eGPU can be technically done with Mac but I'm curious to hear is anyone has done it and had good use from it. I will say that my current 13" Mid 2012 MBP is a warranty replacement and is only 3.5 years old but I would like to get more power out of it instead of having to buy a new Laptop. I'm not wanting to play games on it, I have an XBox for games, I do Graphic Design work as well as 3D modeling/Animation and game coding from time to time and would like to be able to get a bit more power from it. I am running 12gb of ram and plan on getting a SSD soon as well.

I appreciate any help.
