Alienware Sound Blaster issues

So I have an Alienware 15R2 laptop with sound blaster recon 3di chip in it.

it has always had issues with the sound blaster control panel being painfully slow waiting up to a minute for the screens to change in the menu

so I figured, update the driver, so I did this and still have the same issue (slowness) but now I have a new issue of a super quiet mic

I looked through all the settings and if I crank up the boost to near max it sounds fine but I feel like I should not need to do this...

I have tried un install / re install of both the old and new drivers and the mic is still quiet/ control panel slow.

If it sounds fine, then it is fine. That's usually how it goes.
