I'm having a fair bit of trouble getting recording software to work. I tried out using Shadowplay at first but everything I recorded just came out as black video with the audio still fine so I switched to OBS. Now I'm having issues where my recorded gameplay is extremely choppy. My base resolution is 1440p and the output is 1080p60. I was using the hardware encoder but OBS appears to have reset that. I am outputting the file as a .mov at high quality medium file size. I have a 7600K on water, a 1060, 16GB of RAM and a 500GB 960 Pro.

is your hdd being slow, or is your CPU maxed out at 100%?

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Like I said in the OP I have a 960 Pro. I doubt the issue is there.

No, I'm at like 60% while gaming and recording.
