Hi there forum,
Can someone please explain this for me? (Image attached)

I do a lot of renderings at work/home using the same software and templates. I'm running a i5-4690 @ 3.50GHz in the desktop at work and a i7-6700k 4GHz Laptop at home.. in-fact all specs are improved a few years in the laptop (metabox).

The problem I'm having is that the Laptop takes twice as long to render as the desktop. I opened up the CPU interface and noticed I'm only reaching about 16% utilization while the MHz is almost maxed out. I'm mostly savvy with computers but have never touched CPU settings so don't want to dive in there without any advice first (For all I know it could be a software error).

Any help appreciated.

usually rendering uses GPU more than CPU I think? It may be a software setting as rendering softwares do have settings to use GPU as well so maybe the laptop is using more GPU. 6700k is a really good chip ...yes it has good overclockability but I don't think that is your issue here. Cpu speed with max out under load that is normal but the 2x time is not unless somthing was getting really hot and it obviously is not. I think very much this is a software setting.

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't receive any emails notifications.

Yes you're probably right. I usually render in Maya and other CPU based rendering software. Twinmotion is based on the Unreal Engine which I guess is GPU based due to live rendering.

I'll run some tests on my gpu and see if anything is out of the ordinary.

GPU is a Pascal GTX 1060 (Laptop), should be fine thanks for the specs. The scene is massive, might just be too much.

If its a quadro it would make perfect sense.
