1) i'm pretty sure everyone here have experience it before, but my headphone currently only have audio on the left, my right ear is lonely unless i pull/push the headphone jack and stay still. the moment i lift my finger and my right ear is lonely again. this is just so annoying. my setup is:

  • headphone jack connected to front panel.
  • my case is Cooler Master 690 III
  • i have a speaker connected to motherboard at the back, i use playback devices to switch between headphone and speaker often

how do i fix this? could my headphone jack's the problem? or is it the case jack panel be the problem?

2) should i go to the USB headphone route? what's the difference between USB and headphone jack and will it still allow me to switch using playback devices? if so then, what usb headphone do you recommend?

you can recommend me a wireless one should it be cheap and chargeable rather than buying batteries

my budget is RM400 which should be $100 dollar ish

To me, this sounds like a problem with your headphone cable. I've used USB on headphones for a while, and I've found them to be more reliable.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

yea, its tempting really. since you've used it, how's the sound experience compared to the headphone jack?
also whats your headphone you're using?

if you're not doing anything crazy with audiophile tier hardware and  headsets, like just gaming and media, you won't really notice the difference all that much and i actually like my cloud 2's quite a lot which are usb amplified 7.1 headsets which can also be used  in regular headset jacks as well

I've found USB audio to be quite a bit better than analog, and it supports more surround and virtualization options. I'm currently using the Logitech G633.

thanks to both of you, i'll keep those headphones as last resort option

now is there a way i can fix the jack in the first place? if i can that would save me some trouble, $100 is quite expensive =/

I replaced the jack on my speakers when the left channel suddenly decided to disappear unless I held it in specific way. If you have a soldering iron and some skills you could try putting a new jack on the cable if you're comfortable with it.

Won't help if the issue is not with the jack of course.
