i have a b75 motherboard ( more specifically the asus p8b75-m/csm) with an i5 3330 and im looking to upgrade my cpu for gaming purposes, what i would like to know is if i should get an i7 3770k now and stay with my current build, wait a while and make an entirely new build or stay with the build i have now and just not upgrade

my current build is:

i5 3330

asus p8b75-m/csm mobo

8 gb ram

850w psu

7970 oc edition

note: i know that the psu is overkill for this build but its what i have, and i also know i cant overclock the 3770k on b75 but its hyperthreaded and is 3.9 ghz on turbo so i thought it would be useful as next gen games will be utilizing things like that

Get a 4670K and a better board for a similar price. If not, a 3570K will do enough for gaming.

Your i5 3330 can still handle anything, I'd say you wait a while for upgrading, if anything upgrade to a non K chip on your same platform because your motherboard is not made for overclocking. You should be ok performance wise for still quite a while.

A 3770K will not benefit in gaming and getting a K series processor is pointless on a non overclockable chipset. I would recommenced getting a 3570K and a Z77 motherboard like this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131832

An i5 3330 is fine, don't bother with an i7 for gaming. You might even be able to up your Turbo on that motherboard so it always runs at turbo speed. However, any overclocking over the stock Turbo is not recommended.

thanks for your input and although i built my comp a while ago im still not that knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff but if i upgrade my mobo dont i also have to repurchase windows and get a new boot drive?

If you still have the key and disc or iso then no, you just need to re-install.
