Hey guys again!

So here's this video I just made, I heard a weird cracking sound when playing OW, but as soon as I exit the game, it stopped. Any idea what could it be? It happens everytime I start the game, and it really annoys me.

https://imgur.com/a/xKct4

PS: Only happens when starting OW (I have battlerite running in the background and also started other games, but everything seems normal except OW)

I already had several issues with my GPU, maybe it's that?

Here's my other thread about this faulty (imo) GPU, and I'm not sure what to do with. Maybe I'll just sell it...

I mean, did you take out the graphics card and open Overwatch to see if it was definatly the cards fans that were making the noise, you do have a stock cooler so it may be that.

that's right, I did not do that because I was afraid something might happen, but I'll do it when I have time! Did you check my thread, with the GPU fan sound? That's why I am 99% sure it is the GPU.

I just realised it happens at every game. And whenever I minimize, or exit the game, it stops. I really have no idea what it is...

Can anyone help me please?

This is really getting weird. Sometimes fan is at 8000 RPM, insane sound (only while playing OW and GPU is at 70 celsius) and sometimes the HWmonitor says 0 RPM, but fans are still extremely loud.

sounds like it might be crap stuck in the fans, maybe its a bad ball bearing in the GPU fan?

And as for the 0 RPM thing, that could be just incompatibilities with the drivers etc.

Or maybe the hall effect sensor on the fan (thing that reads the RPM of the fan) is going bad.

Maybe it came loose and is hitting stuff making that crackling noise :P

Id clean out the fan, and or just order a replacement fan for the gpu and install it.

This is all of course assuming its the gpu

Thanks for the answer. Is it possible to order genuine GPU fans from somewhere?

Is it something like this?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-GTX1060-1070-1080-graphics-card-fan-T129215SU-SM-4Pin-5Pin-6Pin/152872078700?hash=item2397e2cd6c:m:mRAnKjQt2tk90tZGsG751Aw

if there is nothing available, then youll have to improvise, or send it back

To improvise you might have to take them out and measure all the dimensions,

height of the fan

total length of the fan

how many

what type of connectors

etc

even then, still might get it wrong

But your looking for like a heatsink assembly or something, there are a number of choices available on ebay though

But overall we just need more specs innorder to find them,

a set of pictures would help, maybe even a picture with a tape measure / ruler next to it will help as well.

You contact the manufacturer to get a replacement not the retailer.

Europe has really good laws about refunds so you're fine.

I'm pretty much 100% sure that you'll get a replacement if you contact gigabyte support and follow all of the steps they give you.

But first, make sure there are no fans cables or anything pushing up against any fan blades. It could be something as silly as that. Like a card in the spokes of a bicycle.

That would be wonderful.

I've tried on my friends computer once, but there wasn't any issue. Now I'll try it again, test on different games, check differente softwares, see how it behaves.

Thanks for the info!

P.S.: I've already contacted Gigabyte once, not because of the noise, but because of Lagging in games. They told me to try another PSU. Later on I figured out that I think it's just that the other parts are old.

This is what Gigabyte warranty section looks like:

Warranty
Please contact the location where the original order was placed.

So I guess I can't return it?

Ughh, no just ignore that and contact support.

That's not how it works.

That's misleading as hell.

I've RMA'd a lot of parts and it's always the manufacturer that you have to go through.

Don't listen to that and just contact them.

No problem ;)

I've contacted them cause it got even worse. Everytime I start a game after couple minutes fans start to spin like crazy. After some time they stop, then they start again. And it started to happen more and more often.

This is what they told me:

"Based on the serial # of the card this product was sold in North America and can only be service in the same region.
If you know anybody that has a U.S shipping address, you may use their address and have send you the card after service is completed. You may apply for RMA request with us if you do have access to someone with a U.S shipping address "

...well gg Gigabyte...not going to purchase anything from them anymore.

Wow, that is really crappy.

Yea, I won't buy gigabyte products either just because their bios sucks and the revision numbers always try to screw you up.

I hate everything about how their stuff works.

Asus has always treated me well so I tend to stick to them..

Actually EVGA is probably the best for customer service out of all of them so yea, I'd buy from them too.

Hopefully you have some family or friends in the states.

Turned out that all the shipping fees are on me. Well, screw Gigabyte. I'm sure it's not 10-20$ to get my GPU in the USA.
