so i'm using Linux Mint 18.3 on my pc (specs in signature) and if i move apps between monitors (i have 3) so dragging them over they lag out bigtime. they'll just stay on the screen where they were before and sort of teleport when i "drop" them.

i'm running the latest nvidia drivers and the rest of the system is fully updates as well.

anyone know a fix?

I am not familer with Mint, but it should work fine moving the apps from one to the other.  I do that with my small system running Ubunu

yeah, i have used stock ubuntu on this machine in the past and it was fine... little laggy (because gnome), but nothing like this.

I was bout to update my self after looking at Mint.  Its the same darn thing without Gnome.   I just read 5 reason why mint is better then Ubuntu.  So the first things was Graphics and the ability to use it like windows.  So That said.  Hmmm with what you have as a system, it should be ripping the screen off the stand.  Not sure why its not, unless they got a bug in the software some how.

are you using the open driver or the proprietary one? try changing to the other one.

proprietary.

issue is, i'm using a gtx 1050, which ubuntu 16.04 does not have proper support for. so if i switch to the open driver, the system crashes. i could get around this by manually upgrading the kernel, but then VMware gets issues.

You could try using a different compositor but it could get a bit messy.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

I've never done it with cinnamon, in theory it should be possible but I can't find any guide so you'd probably have to mess with it quite a bit. Alternatively you could try installing another DE altogether like kde plasma.

I've had that issue with Ubuntu. I don't think I've had that problem on Mint MATE.
