I have an XLR microphone, and an Avid Mbox Mini 2 as the interface for it to plug in via USB to my PC.

It works fine for recording, or talking on Discord. Driver for Mbox installed just fine and automatically.

However in Skype calls or Discord calls, when I'm using both my microphone and webcam at the same time, it seems like my USB controller is crashing. Webcam stops momentarily, lights on mouse and keyboard go out, etc. Hard drives seem to be unaffected by this though. Sometimes this happens after 40 min, sometimes after 5. But it causes me to have to remake the call.

This doesn't happen if I use my headset microphone and webcam. Even if the XLR mic is still plugged in and active.

I thought power delivery might be a problem because one USB port has to power the Mbox, as well as phantom power the microphone, so I bought a wall powered USB hub. But the problem is still there.

I tried streaming yesterday, and the microphone registers and shows levels in OBS, but about 2 minutes after you start streaming it just quits. No notifications or errors, it just stops outputting a signal apparently.

If I leave OBS open (not streaming), the levels register constantly without problem for hours, and then once I start streaming it seemingly dies.

I've looked in the Mbox control panel software and it acts like the mic isn't connected, saying "No Hardware Connected" and it doesn't show levels, but other programs use the mic fine, unless I try to stream or Skype call etc.

I've tried reinstalling the driver, different USB ports, the powered USB hub, but none have helped any.

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Does your motherboard have multiple USB controllers? Sometimes they do, you might be able to move it to a different port to utilize a different controller and not have the issue.

Does it happen if you use another computer?

I know my board has multiple USB controllers, I've looked in the manual but don't seem to see them labeled as to which ports are controlled by which controller. Here's a link to the manual.

I'll have to tear my setup apart a little bit to try on another computer but I'll give it a shot in the meantime I guess.

Update, I've been streaming now for around 10 minutes and the mic seems to be functioning fine on my laptop.

Plugged it back in to my desktop and it crashed my USB stuff again, and my mouse wouldn't come back even when plugging it into other USB ports etc, I was forced to restart my pc for my mouse to come back.
