yes, compression takes a lot of CPU

 

quite normal. if you're dropping frames, lower your compression settings

try using fast/medium and see if you can get away with having a higher quality stream while still 'using 85%% CPU'

I remember being able to get away using fast with an i5 760 streaming Minecraft, but 7500 bitrate

 

you can also try to experiment streaming using CUDA or whatever, might be a better compromise
