Motherboard Jumpstart

Hey, it seems that my power button / the cable that connects between the Motherboard to the power button is a bit dumb, so I have no way of turning on the computer.

The question is, if I jumpstart the Motherboard, can it cause any hard or do anything to the Motherboard? (I turn on my computer once per day.)

You need to buy or make a jumper cable to do that.

If by jumpstarting you mean shorting the two front panel pins, then that is exactly the same procedure that a power button does.

If you hold these two connected for too long (around 5 seconds), PC will power off. There is no harm as long as you do not touch wrong pins.

I do it all the time on the mobo with my server. Too lazy to order a a cable. I have it set to be on 24/7 and to turn on when it detects power, so I never have to touch it

I refuse to read threads whose author does not know how to remove the caps lock!
