Hi I has a Asus vz27aq (27" 2560x1440p @ 60Hz) and I've just noticed there's one pixel in the lower right quadrant that has difficulty producing black. By this I mean it performs fine in all other primary colors (I checked with UndeadPixel 2.2) and white, but in black it could only produce purple instead. I only found this out by luck as even now that I know its exact location I must look for it for a while in order to see it. It's not blacked out so I don't know what problem it has. I ran the flash train in UndeadPixel for about an hour to no improvements. What is this problem really? And how can I fix it? Thanks!

Dead or non-functional pixels are not unheard of unfortunately. You can see what the warranty for dead pixels is, but expect Asus to do everything it can to void the claim.

I think their policy here in HK is replacements are warranted if there are 3 (or 7 I forgot) dead pixels and dead pixels only. Though I'm not sure if this is a dead pixel problem at all since this one singular pixel is still functional in all other colors. And its is only one problematic pixel. I've heard of the "pixel massage" with damp towel method, but am reluctant to try since all those results are based on monitors with much larger pixels and am worried if I would end up spreading the damage. Do you know if this works?

I don't think you can kill your pixels by massaging them with a damp towel. Maybe take a look at this WikiHow page, it seems to list a few other techniques as well.

Thanks. It does say to try to use the techniques only to the affected pixels tho mine are so small I could barely see it. Do you think I should wait or try to fix it now?

No idea, it depends on how much it bothers you. I personally don't think any of these techniques looks particularly risky, but if you can barely notice it and you're not comfortable with rubbing your screen with a damp towel or poking it with the end of a pen, then maybe don't attempt it. If it's so annoying you're going to replace your monitor anyway, then you have nothing to lose and you might as well go for it.
