Hey guys. So I bought a used/refurbished (i guess) Hard Drive from a CeX store. 5 euros for 200 gb. 7200rpm it said. Now I plugged it in. Because the space in my pc is tight, i put it under my DVD player wich had like a small cage wich suprisingly enough was perfect for it. Now, I turned on my pc. Works fine, the HDD is recognized. It's the D drive now all good. But the stats from the CrystalDiskInfo made me worried :

This is the primary hard disk where everything is:

This is the second one wich is new :

Are those stats normal or...? What could be  causing the noise? Sometimes it's like a scratching noise, and sometimes is like a small bzzzzz

It is a pretty low hours (and power on count) drive, but with those warnings I'd say it's almost dead. That's because you bought used. Don't buy used hard drives. Return it and buy a new one. 1TB drives can be had for extremely cheap these days.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

CeX with this logo?

Return it, and demand your money back. That size is tiny >>> probably very old. But it has been used for only 261 days. (24/7) With an power-on count of just 25... Which is just VERY strange. I'd asume they have played with the SMART data, because I can't imagine how it would have been used. + also bad sectors...

*PS: I bought a HDD once from that company. Showed up in my BIOS, not in windows. Reboot, didn't show up anymore in BIOS. This happened with the second drive I've got as a replacement. The 3rd drive wouldn't even spin up >>> got my money back. Removed an tiny HDD from a broken laptop I had, added it to my pc (exact same way + identical way of handling the hardware), and it instantly worked. (after several months, I had my GF install a used 2tb enterprice HDD to that same system, and it also worked without any issues)

Here is the manual for your ST3200822AS Seagate BarraCuda drive. When reading 3rd party drive diagnostic results, you will want to keep the following Knowledge Base article in mind. As a matter of policy, we do not release drive attributes and thresholds, and the way that 3rd party tool results are read out may not be related to how the attributes are used within Seagate drives which may cause them to provide inaccurate and/or misinterpreted results. You can try using our free diagnostic software SeaTools which reports on drive health via a pass/fail status.

So CeX isn't good? And they may have manipulated with the settings and SMART? Well, I ain't gonna return it tho cuz it's in Italy and I just came back from my vacations there, plus it's only 5 euros, so it was a legit hit or miss.

Also, I bought it from CeX cause it was 5 euros. In local stores in my country, it costs like 60 euros for 1TB. And I'm saving for RAM atm...
