Changing chipset, Win10 reinstall needed?

Hello,

 

I am swapping out my Biostar X370GTN motherboard for an Asus B350-i.

Do you think that I should do a clean install of Win10 or will I get away by doing the system restore that keeps your data but cleans everything else?

Would it be safer to pay a 20gbp premium to get the X370-i?

Nope, windows will recognize new hardware. However, there can be slowdowns but ive never seen any in my experience.

Those slow downs should be fixed if I reinstall Windows though (even if its the restore that doesn't erase data)?

Yes, but i would try just keeping the boot drive in its current state first.

It will work without a reinstall but just be patient

for me after doing a hardware change - it took quite a while to detect/download/install the new drivers during the log-in screen

after youre able to get into windows it may still continue to update on its own

 

worst case scenario some device components might not work as they should. so then just do a clean re-install
