First Time Building a PC

I'm new to computers, so I had a friend who knows a little more than me help with this.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BdTpd6

1. Budget & Location

Max budget is $1300 and I'm located in the US.

2. Aim

I plan on using the system for gaming with friends (probably some PUBG, Overwatch, CS:GO, and modded Minecraft). I also plan on using it to try out 3D modeling and coding which I heard can be CPU intensive.

3. Monitors

Probably just the one listed.

4. Peripherals

Windows 10 (my friend says that its cheaper because I just need to buy the license since he has the USB) and the keyboard/mouse listed.

5. Why are you upgrading?

Because all I have now is an old laptop and I want to have something that can run intensive programs without becoming super slow. I also am really interested at looking into coding and computer science.

Would this work or do you have any recommendations?

Maybe just get a 1600 non x and get your friend to help you overclock

You NEED to add an SSD

imo I would spend the extra bucks to buy a better keyboard and mouse.

Faster Ram  3000 or 3200, also check Asus website for an approved ram list for that motherboard.

I agree with Slottr  you nEED an SSD.

That motherboard has an m.2 slot, so look at an m.2 ssd, they are a little more expensive,

But they are MUCH Faster.

Beowulff83, is also correct, Make sure that your ram works with the Mobo. I have had to help a few Friends, when they bought 2 packs of ram and then wondered why they didn't work together.

Might also want to look at a slightly better PSU, It's okay, but they last longer if you give them more lee-way in capacity. and it will allow for better upgradability.
