Steam VR not working

So pls if anyone can help. So I just got my HTC Vive 2 days ago but I cant get it to work. At first, the headset was tracking and was picked up by the computer, everything was green I just couldn't play because I didn't have the room set up of the sensors in the right place so I didn't test it out.  I set up the room and all of a sudden I keep getting 208 errors (hdmi not found but USB found) so I tried everything including reinstalling Steam VR and steam its self. The biggest problem I have rn is that I go to steam Vr and click settings and Steam Vr crashes with no error message. I'm lost I have no idea where to go or how to fix this. Also, steam VR has been very slow and sluggish. After I get the 208 message I go to try to reconnect it tells me quickly on the re-connection program that status is connected (in all green lettering) but then it goes back to red not working.
