It depends. This is actually a pretty in-depth topic that can go on forever. You would normally go for negative airflow, meaning that more air is coming out of your computer then air is coming out. So try and do that. Try to have 1-2 fans pushing air out for every fan that you have coming in.

 

What case do you have, and I could try and help you out a little bit on what fans should go where

No, no and no, reread that please. 

 

You aim for positive airpressure in the system meaning you push air in with fans through the filtered fanspots and exhaust through the tiny holes all around the case and a fan, but always less exhaust than intake fans. 

 

For an stock R3 with stock cooler you don't need a whole lot of fans. What case are you using though?

I just reread what I said, and I somehow managed to have that all backwards. Lesson learned, dont try and be helpful when you can barely keep your eyes open
