How to back up a server to a standalone back up box

So how would I go about backing up a server to a whole separate computer on a network?

an entire image of the server. It will be used to back up a company server in case of a total failure of the server

What you are looking for by the sounds of it is a bare metal backup solution. What operating system is the server running?
