Problems with my system

So I just got a laptop, fairly old I believe, the HP Envy 15-j100ni and I am trying to get it to run games such as overwatch, but whenever I do it drops down to less than 10fps consistently. Even on my "craptop" (3rd gen i3 and intel integrated graphics 4000) I would get more than that on minimum settings, where as my new system, with an i7-4700MQ @2.4GHz and the NVidia GeForce 840m even though I have all the latest drivers etc. Any tips or troubleshooting I can do to make it work as I believe it should as seen elswhere online?

this one? make sure Overwatch is set to the Nvidia graphics card. you can do that in the Nvidia Control Panel. then it will destroy your "craptop" in framerates

Yeah, it is set to the GPU which is what's confusing me. Even with the lowest settings and resolution it sits at under 10fps

Just done some further research and found that most PCs with the same specs as mine average 46ish FPS (credit to userbenchmark.com) These results are for low settings at 720p
