Mic only records static

Hey my guys, i just bought a sennhiser g4me one headset, to find out that the mic only records static on my pc... i've tried using it on my phone, it works great.  I tried buying a mic to usb adapter and that hasn't done anything to resolve the problem.  any suggestions.

check it's not muted by a physical switch, that often is the cause of this and that it is actually the default recording device.

i know it is not muted by a physical switch and it is the default recording device.
