So I posted this in the CPU/MOBO/RAM section but it's really about computer hardware in general.

I am spending 700 - 900 dollars on upgrading my PC and maybe 200 more around christmas but I need a little help to decide which parts to replace and which to keep and what parts to upgrade to.

Price to performance doesn't really matter for me, I just want the best performance possible for my budget (I will be spending all the money on PC upgrades, not save it).

Current PC

CPU: Intel Core i5 4690
CPU Cooler: CM Hyper 212
MOBO: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
Graphics Card: MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X 3G
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 2x8GB
PSU: Cooler Master G550M
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB
SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB

A new case with side window and PSU shroud is a must for me, I want my pc to look good (black & red theme) and to have better performance for gaming and also video editing. The big titles I play are GTA V, Battlefield 1, CS:GO, PUBG and Resident Evil 7.

Edit: Changed my budget by a bit

CPU: 4790K

GPU: GTX 1070 or 1080

Maybe a bigger cooler like a BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 3, depending on how much you want to overclock.

Hi, thanks for the quick answer. Hmm, that CPU costs $450 where I live and is very hard to find anywhere, would it still be worth it or could another CPU or CPU/MOBO/RAM combo give me better performance? I'm also thinking about if Ryzen 5 (or maybe 7) would be any good?

Looks really good, thanks. Maybe I can select this as solution if no one else suggests a better solution for me?

If you want to go Intel:

Well, I've always been using Intel and been afraid to buy Ryzen but right now Ryzen seems like the way to go.

Do you think it would be stupid to keep my current GPU and buy a better cooler?

If you're happy with the FPS you're getting and not hitting any issues, I don't think it would be stupid at all.
