Playing Civ5 without DLCs

Go to solution Solved by Mindtrickz,

DLC's are not important for Civilization 5. What is important for Civilization 5 is the "Brave New World" expansions. That expansion "completes" the game and adds so much more. It's one of the best. You could play the base game without it, but a lot of the mistakes in Civ 5 are ironed out in BNW. One should not play the game without it, IMO.

If what you're asking is, is CIV V a good game without DLC, then the answer is yes.  Is the game better with DLC, well Gods & Kings and Brave New World add a lot to the game and are very fun.  But the base game is still very enjoyable.

Gods and Kings adds a lot as well, the religion factor really plays into a lot strategies.

No, I mean the later but I don't understand what you mean by "add to the game", I mean if someone played the game without DLCs then added the DLCs and started over would he notice difference except the new lands and new missions, is it just new maps or add "features" to all maps too, I am not able to explain better.

You can play without the DLC and you can buy it later.

OK thanks

OK can you kindly explain more, you mean the maps/missions already found in CIV5 with no DLCs will be different after adding BNW ?

Yeah, kinda. One of the major problems with the base game is the AI. The AI was pretty "dumb", and would suicide attack a city with only one unit, the leaders would be bipolar in that one turn they would be one way and the next completely different. Most of that has been fixed in BNW. The AI's in BNW now start to make rational decisions and can generally be much more friendly and one cna develop a long friendship with an AI; from the start to the end.

BNW also adds world congress. everyone votes for resolutions. Diplomacy is very important now. It also adds a lot more features.

Here is a good review of it:

I personally still play it without any DLC simply because their DLC has never been anywhere near appropriately priced. Not even during the Steam Summer Sale (unless I missed it)

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.
