ultrawide issue, custom resolution

so i stream lots, my main monitor is a ultrawide, as you might guess this makes it difficult sometimes.

i have to play in windowed to ensure that the aspect ratio is 16:9 which causes many issues, including me accidentally tabbing out when the cursor moves off of the game, this really sucks in games like pubg where 1 second of accidentally tabbing out can cost you the game

anyway is there any way to play in fullscreen or borderless fullscreen, at 2560x1440 with black bars on the side of my ultrawide?

I am very curious about this as well. I am a 2.39:1 / 21:9 nutjob. I think it is the way content should be viewed, that said, it isn't friendly for an audience. I know GTA V sometimes has this issue too and I play PUBG. OBS isn't helping.

I am honestly considering just getting a nice 1080p monitor for when I game/stream and using the 21:9 as my productivity monitor since I pretty much need two monitors anyways!

i have a 1080p 24inch 1ms monitor, but it's just annoying not being able to play on my higher resolution monitor that has better colors

Nvidia control panel > Adjust desktop size and position > choose either "no scaling" or "aspect ratio" (probaby aspect ratio is better for what you want) > perform scaling on GPU > override scaling mode set by games and programs > you're done.

Because all you're doing is changing the scaling options in that menu, the resolution options are just for the preview box so you can see what it looks like (the thing with the grey lines and such). When you go in-game it'll work.
