Oculus vs HTC Vive vs wait for newer hardware

  1. 1. Best VR Option

    • Oculus Rift

Before I get into the actual meat of this post, why isn't there a dedicated forum for VR here? Seems like something we should have.

Anyways, now that I have a system that can perform well in VR (gtx 1070 and i7 7700k) I wanted to get into VR, however, I am indecisive of which platform I should choose, Oculus, HTC Vive, or wait until the pimax 5k/8k come out. So I was wondering what VR platform would you choose and why? Is one headset better for a different use case? I was also concerned that since the current headsets are a couple years old at this point, is it better to wait for something newer? I have also included a poll.

Broke 14 Year old + No job + Love for Technology = Bad combo :(

It pretty much is preference. I've heard people tend to enjoy the Vive's headset a bit more, but people have said the Oculus' controllers are a bit nicer. Either is fine.

I should have also said that the Oculus is $400 right now and the Vive is $600. Although if im going with the Oculus I will probably get a third sensor for better room scale

Those are one in the same. The rift is made by Oculus.

Eh, probably just grab the Oculus then since it's cheaper right now. Though, fair disclaimer, everything I've said should be a Secondary source. Haven't had any hands-on experience.
