So I've had a recurring problem lately and I need help just finding out what's going on, I'm in the dark here (it's my first build so zero xp)

Basically, my pc sometimes won't display a signal on my monitor (it's really inconsistent). The first time I did it, I panicked and searched Google for a solution and what I got them was that someone just happened to unplug something from a usb port and it seemed to work, doesn't seem like an actual thing but I did and and hey-presto it worked.

Happened again another time, this time I didn't have anything plugged in apart from the basics (mouse, keyboard), so I did the good old turn off/turn on trick and after a couple of goes voilà, it worked.

Now, it happened again and no amount of off/on fuckery managed to work, I searched Google again and saw that some people said it could be an issue with the GPU, to unplug it, remove it, clean it, etc. and put it back in. I opted to be lazy and leave the drastic 'unplug everything' plan for my last resort. I got to the point where I had to unplug the PSU from the graphics card and plus that back it. This worked.

And after all this, I still don't get what the problem is, why it's so inconsistent or when/if it'll happen again. So, for my own peace of mind/sanity, could anyone hazard a guess to what the fuck is going on?

Perhaps the backlight of the monitor doesn´t come on.  Try another monitor and see if it has similar symptoms.

The monitor turns on and off like normal, just displays the 'no signal' notification sometimes.
