Is this temperature accurate?

Go to solution Solved by kerradeph,

Unless you're using sub 0 cooling or it's in a fridge/freezer, no, that number is not correct. Air coolers and water coolers can't cool below the temperature of the air flowing through them.

I have a athlon X4 860k OCed to about 4ghz So I have at least 5 apps that tell CPU temperature, and they all seem to be WAY too low to be accurate... unless my CoolerMaster T2 is better than I thought...

Oddly enough programs like MSI afterburner claim the same temperature as all the other apps- it just seems to low to be real... even under load it never gets above 32 Celsius...

well are you running it on load or idle? if its idle the temps are normal

lol you can see in the pic its running idle, so thats why, you have to test on full load to see the max temps and to make sure your OC is stable and it wont crash after running for 2 hours

32 is fine for idle temps.

if temps stay on same on evey program even on load then you can just have a broken temp sensor

If you want to argue with me, and you probably will please PM me, no need to ruin threads becase you dont like how I am.

It just seemed too low to be accurate considering it's overclocked

even if you overclock the overclock wont be in effect unless the CPU needs to run at the speed, its not going to run at 5ghz when you have have chrome open even if you have oit overclocked to 5ghz. it only runs at the speed it needs to do waht the program needs it to do.

That's the thing it's 32 ON FULL

LOAD

and 1-10 degrees on idle

its in C not F so its running at 89F so yes the temps are normal lol

post a pic please.

might just have broken temperature sensor. my 860k used to run at -999999c lol. i think the 760k and 860k are just prone to temp scones breaking lol

What? 8.1C is cold. That's like overnight temp during spring. 20C is around 70F.

Lol... I think the temperature sensors might be broken... in bios it says a different  temperature (a much higher and more realistic one)

you can try to do some stuff like reinstall windows or restart CMOS or stuff to make sure but in the end it might be a big hassle, and might not fix it.

but it does suck not knowing if your OC temp is too high.

i got my 860k to 4.6 on the 212 evo with only 1.35V so I assume your temps are fine at 4ghz as long as your voltage isn't high,

Voltage is normal(ish/ not high) so that should not be a issue- thanks for your help!
