I have the Z87 Pro which is either one or two above the PLUS and it fits my need perfectly. Has great overclocking potential (4.6 with my 4670k no problem) and all the features I care for.

I'm using a USB headset so I can't comment on the sound, but I bet everyone will tell you to get a soundcard, even if it's not expensive as it will be better than the onboard sound. If you want better onboard sound, I'd look into the ROG boards.

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow; Motherboard: MSI ZZ490 Gaming Edge; CPU: i7 10700K @ 5.1GHz; Cooler: Noctua NHD15S Chromax; RAM: Corsair LPX DDR4 32GB 3200MHz; Graphics Card: Asus RTX 3080 TUF; Power: EVGA SuperNova 750G2; Storage: 2 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB; Crucial M500 240GB & MX100 512GB; Keyboard: Logitech G710+; Mouse: Logitech G502; Headphones / Amp: HiFiMan Sundara Mayflower Objective 2; Monitor: Asus VG27AQ

Hi,

Any of you guys/gals own this mother board? If so, how is the on-board sound? Also, what's your overall impressions of the board?

Thank you!

i had this board for a couple of weeks. sold it because i was not satisfied with the overclocking capability.  sold it on ebay for $80.00 US including shipping.

i never did try the onboard sound.

if you really want asus i would suggest the Z87 pro or better as your cheapest solution, better yet get an MSI GD-65 or better.

Hi ProKoN,

I do not plan on over-clocking. I am only interested in the Z87 board for it supposedly having a better NIC (Intel) and audio. I dunno. I am still looking around at boards and certainly don't plan on spending too much on one. However, that pro version does has some nicer features.

Thanks!
