I was looking through a few old keyboards today and of the three I found two of them were membrane (yuck) but the last one had a switch that looked mechanical but not cherry mx so I thought I could ask you guys! :)

looks beter than membrane but cant say if its mechanical or not, i would say no

 

but clean that keyboard please!

Looks to be membrane to me. Is it rubber?

probably not....mechanical keyboards look nicer and I think they're newer....if it feels like what it looks like then no

Mechanical switches have been around for decades. 

Looks a little bit like an ALPS switch, but it's most likely membrane.

Mechanical switches have been around for decades.

Those are not alps, alps have more rectangle shaped connectors.

It looks very similar to an Alps switch.  It's not membrane though.  It looks pretty old so it's probably just a generic "regular" mechanical switch from back in the day or something.  The branded ones we have now are not the only mechanical switches to ever exist.

Keyboards were originally mechanical but membrane switches were cheaper so the industry made the switch. Cherry MX however is a new switch.

As for what the TS/OP's keyboard has, it's prolly membrane......doesn't look like ALPS to me.

There is barely any tactical feedback so it is probably a memebrane with a plunger.
