Hello,

I would like to know if my build below will work in that I want each card to run . I do not care if each card drops right down to PCI 1x, I just want them to run. Please don't criticize the price, double PSU, CPU choice, MOBO choice, RAM choice, etc. This is a PCI question. As long as each card runs and is detected by the system, I will be happy with it.

I am predicting that because the motherboard supports 4-way SLI and the i5 only has 16 PCI lanes, that each card will fall back to something like 4x each or maybe 8/4/2/2.

Here is the build:

Q: Do I have a virus?!
A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

*room quickly heats up to 100c, breakers blow, entire city loses power*

Yes they may be detected, maybe, but they will not run at full cap, if this is a mining rig.

i5 6600k and GTX 1070 but I play 1600-900. 1440p BABY!

Still, don't put too much faith in my buying decisions. xD

those cards are 210watt each ul need atleast a 1000-1200watt psu to run them lol

You didn't read my post. I said not to question the PSU situation. I clearly have a circuit board that joins PSUs, and have properly doubled the price of the PSU to adjust for PCPP not letting me add two PSUs.

I'm going to give more info in the main post, but this is incorrect.

Because 2 x $70 < 1 x $350. And it is more scalable since I won't be buying all of this at once.

I commend you for your solution. My stupidity stands corrected.

Do either of you happen to know someone who is knowledgeable about PCI lanes on CPUs?

@Sauron Do you happen to know (or know anyone who knows) a lot about PCI lanes on CPUs for this type of application? (namely, exceeding CPU lanes with GPUs but not exceeding the MOBO)

They ought to work just fine for things like mining, folding etc. Using the native cpu lanes or the ones from the chipset shouldn't make a difference.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Please leave a like for the hard work that went into this picture word thing (I don't remember what they're called)
