Hello!

I have an file server running Openmediavault, but thinking to migrate to Unraid.

And want some experiences from unraid users, and i have some questions.

So my question's is:

Is unraid worth the money?

Does it work seamless in an Windows environment?
How is the performance vs openmediavault?

Does unraid have possibility to host print-services?

Thanks!

  • 1 year later...

Tried Freenas, left that for Unraid as my drives were going to be different sizes so I wanted flexibility and to not shell out hundreds for more ram. Leaving Unraid right now for OMV as the performance and price of unraid are both bummers. OMV seems to be the best of both worlds, and I'll run it in a VM on proxmox so even...better.... :) That's why I voted OMV. I'll come to change my vote if I move back to unraid, but after researching, I think I'll be happy I left.

The best thing to do is try unRAID for the 30 days free the whole os is unlocked in the trial so you will get a real feel for it with no guessing, as far as cost well it is for the most part the cheapest part of the build I personally have 2 unRAID servers and have no complaints the support is outstanding - as for windows 10 well lets just say if something doesn't work its windows 10 not the server os - sorry can't offer a comparison your looking for as I only messed with freeNAS before committing to unRAID
