When I plug in my headphones and they have a mic on them and I've tried it with other headsets with mica too and it's a new pc that I'm using but when I plug them in I hear all PC volume just fine like video and game audio but my mic is not working. Instead of hearing my external audio being my voice it's internal audio from the audio that is playing from my games etc that people hear.

Go to your sound settings and make sure the recording device selected is your microphone.

I don't think an Apple mic will work with a reg. PC, but I may be wrong. Check these settings:

Do as scighera2 suggested.

and also check these settings:

If playing a game, check the games audio settings. Make sure you pick your microphone for the voice input device.

If using Steam, check that it's using the correct voice input device.

Or if using TeamSpeak, or Discord etc. check that as well.

Hope that helped.

Best Excuses:

#1(simple) "Well, I never liked that stupid thing anyway!"

#2(complex) "Obviously there was a flaw in the material, probably due to the inadvertent introduction of contaminants during the manufacturing process."

I assume you mean earbuds, with a stand alone mic? Then yes. Just make sure the mic is recognized by the game, or whatever app you're needing voice capture in.

If you mean switching between a headset which has earphones and a mic, to earbuds (no mic), the answer is still yes, but you will have to select the audio device you want to use. Normally it will default to whatever you used the last time. Example: I have several sets of headphones. If I swap one pair for another, I have to change the audio device in the app (game, or other...).

I thought the original question was about your mic not working. Perhaps I misunderstood.

I prefer the motherboard panel (back) for headphones, mic etc., since they're out of my way, and I'm less likely to get tangled up in the cord. I normally only use the front panel for temporary things, like usb drives etc. unless the cord is too short to reach the back (like my mini-midi controller).

If i'm using the front control panel i'd use the microphone headphone jack or the mic headphone jack, also are there any videos on my situation?

Probably are video's since there's video's on just about everything imaginable. You can use the front panel input's. It really doesn't matter. It won't effect the quality of sound, or shouldn't. There are also headsets that use a USB instead of jacks. Which port you plug them in to doesn't really matter.
