Been looking at possibly using PETG over glass in an upcoming build, but I am wondering what kind of drawbacks there are to PETG, specifically in the following areas:

1. Lifespan.  I know with soft tubing, you need to replace it over time, but I haven't seen any word on how long PETG lasts before you really need to replace it

2. Dye Absorption.  I know many tubes will leech out color from dyes in your fluid, so this is a concern I have too.  It if leeches a lot, I am not that comfortable with it

3. UV weakness. I have been reading conflicting reports about PETG and it being weakened by UV light.  As I wanted to actually have UV light in the build, this is an issue I want more detail on.

I know on all three of these, glass beats everything hands down, but it comes down to getting the bends & cutting glass which is the big issue.

Thanks!

1. I've had PETG going on two years now and there's no noticeable clouding or other issues.

2. About a year ago I switched from a pastel red to a blue fluid, after almost a year with the red there was a slight tint but it was barely visible.

I've been thinking about buying angle fittings and switching to glass myself but I do really like the look with custom bends and less fittings.

Good to hear on the first two!  As for the glass, I've been thinking seriously about it.  I know there are glass blowing studios around this area, and I wonder if I can pay one of them to do the bends and cuts.  Also, I know Meyhems has pre-bent pieces of glass (only one 90 degree bend) but that might help.  I still have a few months before I can buy the parts, so it's still something I am considering, just weighing all my options.
