Greetings!!

Before I get started, let me put the link to my parts list here.

So I changed the case that I wanted kind of last minute and have been having trouble finding a good air cooler for the cpu in my first pc build I'll be putting together this October. Case I want is the Corsair Air 240 mid tower. I'm getting the Ryzen 5 1600 cpu, and the issues I'm having are that I only have a cooler height of 120mm to work with, and that any decent coolers that fit in there require an AM4 socket adapter. There are a couple coolers that are the low profile format that come with AM4 compatibility, but I don't really want the cpu cooler fan facing the windowed case panel, not so much because of the looks (except for Noctua fans, which I love but...yeah), but more so because it's not the ideal air flow I'm going for (that being slightly positive pressure in the case, with flow from front/bottom of case to back/top of case).

Basically:
1- I'd like a tower air cooler ideally.

2- I don't want to have to buy the AM4 adapter separately.

3- Given those two factors, if I have to buy a low profile cooler to keep the shenanigans down, I'd like it to look presentable through my windowed panel.

Ultimately, I'm fairly flexible. If it fits, is effective, is easy to buy/install, and looks good, then I'll take it, though I'm not too interested in water cooling/AIOs at this time. I'm just looking for air cooling options as I can't seem to find good ones.

Thanks in advance for any replies to this post. I really appreciate it.

Stock cooler

Use the stock cooler... LOL

is it effective at cooling an overclocked 1600, and how loud will that get compared to a Noctua cpu cooler for example? I've heard some stock coolers become obnoxiously loud.
i think Bitwit did a video showing that it works, but not as well on the high end of usage. Not super excited about using something that doesn't work as well as I could get if I don't cheap out, and would potentially be reved up high all the time.

You can do some very MINOR overclocking on a stock cooler, and I do believe it can get slightly noisy on an open air bench or a very thin case. I have a stock cooler on my OC'd AMD FX 8320 that is mining Bitcoin 24/7 with the side panel off but I don't really notice it due to me wearing a headset almost all the time.

I plan on trying to get that puppy to, or as close as I can to, 4GHz. So I'm thinking not so much stock cooler.

Also check this out:

@5:00 there's a graph that shows his results with a stock Wraith Spire on the 1600 OC. 89 degrees.

Just use stock until REAL AM4 coolers come out and not overclock that much until then. That is my best recommendation

That's a decent option. Hadn't thought of that tbh no real rush to OC. Thanks for the help!
