Need a good Hard drive cloning program.

Hello, I need a recommendation for a good and robust hdd cloning program for less than 100 usd (cheaper or free is nice but a more robust program would be worth the cost.). My friend needs his old laptop cloned as the old one has a cracked screen and he needs to preserve his programs for his new laptop. Being able to copy the old installs of the programs and software to the new laptop would be nice, but I do not know how to do that and input on the feasibility of this path would be nice.

If you're moving to a new system, you can try to just put the old drive in the new system and see if Windows handles it OK.

He can't keep the old hdd unfortunately and with how much he carries it around an ssd would probably be best.

use clonezilla, its free and can make "bare metal" copies of drives to either images stored on external drives for later cloning, or directly to another destination drive.

I'm a big fan of macrium reflect. It's free like clonezilla. Haven't used clonezilla but I know macrium allows you to make a bootable USB to image copy or reimage a hard drive.
