Any tips for an Absolver beginner?

I started this game Saturday and it's been a little frustrating but fun nonetheless.

So what i really need help is the clothing because i'm not sure what should i have. More protection or faster movement speed/damage?

With the stats i just put more on whatever gave me better damage so my Strength and Dexterity are pretty close.

Btw i'm using the drunken windfall style you get from the schools if that matters
