Hey guys,

For the last few weeks my computer started crashing when I started specific games. It completely shuts down with no warning and starts itself back up again. It started when I tried to play Rocket League with a friend; it shut off within 10-15 secs of getting onto the menu screen. I turned down the video settings at the time and used hwinfo64 to keep track of the temps on my system but there was nothing out of the ordinary. Tried a few other games to test it out:

In Diablo 3 it was almost an instantaneous crash once I got to the menu.

In Black Desert, I crashed a little after I loaded into the game.

Oddly, Witcher 3 ran for quite some time at high graphics and hasn't crashed on me yet.

On less demanding games, like League Of Legends and some indie games, it runs with without a problem (except for a single time it died during league).

I updated my graphics drivers but still have the same problem. My specs are as is:

Asrock Extreme 3 z97

4690k clocked to 4.0ghz

Gigabyte gtx 970 windforce

adata 256gb ssd

seagate 1tb hdd

cooler master 750w psu (g750m)

Sounds like a software/driver issue? I was thinking of resetting windows and starting anew; I built the computer a little over two years ago and it is due for a clean up. Some suggested procedures would also be helpful.

I really appreciate all the help, this issue has been impeding my gaming for a while now. Thanks so much.

I also have this (useless?) event log:

-edit
so i ended up replacing my psu. it was one of the parts i disliked the most during my initial build. got evga 550w gold and works perfect. less power but should be enough for the system and is much better quality.

If you plan to do a fresh install, I'd say give that a shot.
Otherwise try completely removing the drivers with DDU and reinstall the most up to date ones.
