Budget Plex media server build

Go to solution Solved by NoRomanBatmansAllowed,

Just get yourself a decent-ish PC and shove in a network card if it doesn't have gigabit ethernet.

For example if you bought new,, you can get a cheap mobo, and an i3/pentium would work great.

Obviously if you bought used, you could save a lot of money that way, but if you go a few generations back, consider only using i3's.

@LinusTechTipsFanFromDarlo seems to have a good build if you're going new.

I'm looking to spend a very minimal about on a Plex media server. I already have hdds for storage. I'll need everything else. I don't need much for transcoding as I plan on just in home streaming. What would you recommend for components?

Thank you so much ahead of time .

What resolution will you be streaming at? (approximately)

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Something like this would be good as a budget media server...
