Hi guys

i ve got a problem with Toshiba 500GB External 3.0 drive. I have important photos and files on it. Im trying to get everything on my HDD but it goes really really slow and now i cant even open it cuz PC sees it but i cant open it. Maybe it was plugged of while it was working. I need a program or something to get everything on my harddrive and then i ll just format it and hopefully it ll work. Let me know What do you think.

Thanks

run crystal disk info to see if the drive is dying.

if it is, you are screwed..

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

you could take the usb case apart, take out the HDD, install it in your computer like a regluar HDD and cross your fingers that the file system isn't borked already.

installing it directly to a SATA port on the mainboard is the most stable connection - and you want a stable connection when you pull important stuff off a drive or working the drive with rescue software if the file system is borked.

once you got your data back, check the drive with crystaldiskinfo like @themctipers already suggested to see if it has a lot of bad sectors.

it's not even worth formatting a drive to use it further when it is on it's last leg already.
