Hello all!

Not sure why it took me until now to make an account, but I finally decided to join the community.

I need a new laptop, I have no problem buying used/refurbished, I just want something good. I've had a lot of bad experiences lately with some laptops, so I need some outside help to choose.

I need something with at least 4gb of RAM, either an SSD or at lease a user replaceable drive for later upgrades, metal construction (this is a must!), not too heavy or thick, and my budget is around $700 or less.

Obviously I would love the Razer Blade... if only it was a lot cheaper :P Basically I just need a good laptop to use as a secondary machine alongside my gaming desktop. One more thing, it wouldn't be a bad thing if the laptop could run a few games...

Thanks everyone!

-Matt

Is there a specific reason why a laptop? Laptops for about 700$ wont be able to hold a GPU.

I just need a portable machine for schooling and around the house. My Nexus 7 and Surface just aren't cutting it anymore

What do you want to do on it?

word processing, web browsing, maybe some gaming if possible (Arma 2, BF3, I'll keep Arma 3 and BF4 on my desktop as they are very demanding), just general computing. Definately some image manipulation in Photoshop

I only can find APU's... but you'd find at that price range laptops with a 710M or something like that

My old laptop had an APU. I wasn't that impressed to be honest.

Is the 710M good? I'm not that familiar with mobile GPUs

Can run games like TF2, MC... Also tried NFS: Hot pursuit and Most wanted (the new one), GTA IV (medium a bit lowered), Burnout Paradise. Also emulated GT 4 on it xD

Very nice, I'll keep my eyes open for one with a 710M

Well, someone offered me a Lenovo Yoga 13 with a Core i5-3317U clocked at 1.7 GHz,  =upgraded from 4 GB to 8 GB of RAM, and upgraded the single 128 GB SSD to two 240 GB SSDs. Seemed like a good deal, and it's only $500. I hope the deal doesn't fall through though!

Though I won't be able to game with the HD 4000, I think I'll get over it. I'm probably better off not being able to game, just one less thing to deplete battery life. Thanks for the help everyone!

Got the laptop last week, decided to sell the extra 240GB SSD for $160.

So basically, I got an upgraded Yoga 13 for $340 :)
