What is VRAM?

Go to solution Solved by Himommies,

VRAM affects what resolution you can play because the higher the res the more pixels need to be store on VRAM while rendering. When you increase the texture quality the same thing happens.I would recommend at least 4gb for 1080p

Hello I was wonder what exactly is VRAM, I know it's the memory that is dedicated to your graphics card but I just wanted to know how much impact it actually has. Also does its performance difference change on mobile cards, say like on laptops? How much is the recommended amount for either

It's literally like system RAM, just imagine (so to speak) pixels as programs and/or processes. The more pixels, the more vRAM you need. The less, the less vRAM you need.

If you have more than necessary, you will not spot any difference. You will have major bottlenecks if you do not have enough VRAM though.
