Requesting desktop speaker recommendations.

Hi, I've been using a Logitech Z323 Speaker set since 2014, I purchased a Logitech Z506 set a while back and only recently got around to setting it up while doing a set up overhaul.

While I was happy enough with the Z323 for a quite a while, I was disappointed with the "upgrade" and I ended up swapping back to the Z323 as I had issues with the 5.1 setup that were more trouble than it was worth.

 

So now I am looking to up my speaker game. I am comfortable spending €200 - €300 and I'd like to know if I can get a meaningful upgrade with that budget. I am shopping from Ireland, most of the time I shop for hardware on Amazon.co.uk or overclockers.co.uk, ebay.ie is also available. 

 

For context, this is an image of my setup taken just before I swapped back from the Z506 http://i.imgur.com/Jm9uOra.jpg I don't have a ton of room on the right hand side for large speakers so I am leaning towards the 2.1 form factor and I have been considering the Sound Blaster X Katana, but there are some space issues with that as well due to the monitor stand. 

The headset is the Sennheiser PC37X from Massdrop. I also ordered the HD 6XX on the most recent drop, the LTT video from last year convinced me to pull the trigger on them.

I am using the on-board audio on a Z87 Sabertooth. So far I haven't felt like I need an amp/dac or PCI-e sound card. 

 

For my use case my priority is better audio quality in games. All other uses, music, movies, etc. are a secondary concern.
