Yo people

 

My little brother just got his first job and is still using my old pc i5 4690k and GTX 970 .

 

I know it is still good to play most triple A games.

 

I was thinking is it worth buying in to ryzen bundle for around £600 which is the one with the 6 core alittle overkill , 16gb ram and AIO cooler and pair it up with the GTX 970 .?

 

And re use the i5 for a HTPC/second player rig .

If his main concern is gaming, no. There won't be a real difference in performance.

The upgrade wont really be necessary, save some cash and upgrade to something that will give him much better performance later on.

No need now, that's still a good combo and as you say; You can play most AAA titles on it anyways

If you want to improve his gaming experience, get a better graphics card instead.

I agree with what most of you  

 

I'll just tell him to do small upgrades to the rig instead of burning £600 on a new set up.
