Desktop BSODs

I didn't update my bios because I couldn't find out how to and I have an older version of the BIOS and it says Thread exception not handled or something else I can't remember all of them and would it be a BIOS updating issue?

need to know exactly what the BSOD was for. This is the only way we can properly diagnose the issue and what is causing it.

except you dont feel confident in your assessment in the OP... quick google search for Thread exception not handled points to out of date graphics card drivers are the likely cause. Go HERE and download DDUI and follow the instructions exactly. Once you are done with that, then go to your card manufacture's website, AMD or Nvidia and downloaded the latest available drivers and give it a try.

could have bad legacy drivers still installed. Even if you update them, remnants of the old ones remain and can corrupt. I would still highly recommend you using DDU that I have linked and follow it.

Ok I got my 770 used as not working but fresh TIM worked and it works fine now

Alright. Should it happen then afterwards, try the DDU method mentioned.

Just BSOD again but with a new error "unexpected Store exception"

Would it be because I used my laptop hard drive and a hard drive from another PC and my laptop was from Lenovo and the desktop was from Acer would that lead to a problem?

did you not format them with a fresh install of windows?

I didn't format them would that be the problem and I don't want to reinstall all of my games it would take days with my internet speed and I would have to wait to install a bunch because they take about 6 hours to download

Then yes. That is likely to be 99% of your problems likely with the old/bad drivers that are no longer existing that the OS is still searching and looking for. Whenever you put a hard drive in a system from an old system that has an OS on it, you should always reformat and do a fresh install for this very reason.

You can copy your games and steam library over to another drive such as an external or something while you format then move them back.

Ok I have an external drive but it's no where near enough to hold my games because it's 300gb which I'll be getting a new one soonish

so then I recommend backing up the files of the games you want to play the most so you can re-download the rest.

If Windows is activated on your current machine, all you should need to do is use the installer and go.

The windows installer will do it for you as you go through the process.
