I want to cool my 7970's and I was looking at water cooling but then I thought if there's a way to just add some kind of cheap heatsink to the top part where all the circuits are? I mean, I don't need ultra cooling from it, but just something that makes it a little bit cooler. Since there's alot of circuits and the back side is just open it seems like a waste to not put some kind of heatsinks on them!

Anyone know about a good-ish cheap-ish way to do this? Anyone doing it already? I guess I could fit some kind of cooling PCI card in between my cards if that's a possibility.

Thanks

Is this what you are looking for?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186064

I have one on my 6970 and it's actually very good and silent even at like 90% fan speed.

Been around since the beginning of LTT & the forums, but mostly just lurk!

Something like that but I don't think I can fit one on each card because of so little space between them. I see a bunch of aluminum heatsinks on one of the pictures from that link, is that an alternative to the fans? I can't see how you use both those and the big sink plus fans. Although I guess I could just use the big heatsink and take the fans off and then fit two of them? But then I'm paying for fans I won't use. Decisions decisions.. Worth noting that I have the early models 7970 and they tend to get quite hot.
